Single Still
Combining photography and filmography, I'm trying to derive the essence of films from a single still. All content original, citation appreciated.
Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: ‘It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to.’

  • Coffee and Cigarettes
Filmed entirely of conversations over you guessed it, this film features some interesting appearances from a wide range of celebrities. Watch anyone from Steve Coogan (pictured right), Jack White, Bill Murray, Alfred Molina (pictured left), and Cate Blanchett engaged in some off the wall conversations and vignettes.

  • Broken Flowers
This sublimely dry comedy from director Jim Jarmusch seeking the son he’s never known is also somewhat depressing and thematically confused. The star Bill Murray manages to express all of that with this single look above.
